Ameristar A/C Upgrade

This customer had a 20-year old Rheem Classic air conditioner.  Unfortunately, the system suffered from erratic operation that was caused by a blocked capillary tube.  Instead of repairing the unit, the customer decided to upgrade to a new, more energy efficient R410A unit.  ORMECO technicians removed the original condenser and evaporator and installed a new Ameristar product.

Here, a technician has removed piston metering device.  The capillary tubes were freezing downstream of the metering device, which normally indicates a malfunction or blockage.  After removing the device and finding nothing amiss, the technician found blockage in one of the tubes connected to the distributor body.

Here, the condenser is already been pulled.  After cleaning the concrete pad, a new Ameristar condenser is installed. The existing copper lines were reused after flushing with an approved solvent solution. A new filter/dryer was installed, along with new elastomeric insulation.

Lennox High Efficiency Furnace Upgrade

Another Rheem Classic air conditioner; this time coupled with an Apollo hydronic heating system. The customer decided to upgrade to a gas furnace and R410A cooling unit.  ORMECO technicians removed the original condenser and evaporator and installed a new Lennox high efficiency furnace.

Installation of new equipment required a new duct transition, gas pipe installation, and a means to deal with condensate; in this case, a condensate pump was installed, which will feed a drip-irrigation line outside the house.

Because a new gas furnace and tank-less water heater were installed, a new, large-capacity gas pipe was necessary. The gas pipe, along with thermostat wiring and the refrigerant tubing were run through the attic space. To hide the pipe, a custom pipe chase was built; one that matches the color and style of the home.

The new 3 ton R410A condenser was installed in the same location, but with new electrical connections and pad. The evaporator, furnace, and water heater are shown here; completed. The vent pipe for the furnace was run through the attic space and terminated outside the house; it was painted the same color as the house.

Lennox  Gas Furnace Upgrade

Here's another Rheem Classic furnace and air conditioner. After spending money every year for refrigerant losses, the customer decided to upgrade to a new gas furnace and R410A cooling unit.  ORMECO technicians removed the original condenser and evaporator and installed a new Lennox furnace.

Here an ORMECO technician prepares the outdoor condenser for demolition. The Rheem lasted almost 30-years, but it's efficiencies was terrible. Note: the lack of any insulation on the return duct work.

The old furnace removed, the new Lennox was prepared for installation. This equipment was carefully selected to ensure a near, drop-in replacement; very few modifications were required.

The old Rheem condenser was removed and the concrete pad raised and slightly relocated. Here, the new Lennox system is undergoing a pressure decay test; this to ensure the equipment is leak-tight.

New Lennox cooling coils are aluminum and ORMECO only selects equipment with higher-efficiency thermostatic expansion valves (TXV); this ensures the best possible cooling efficiency. Here, an ORMECO technician is checking manifold pressure and testing the furnace. Note: the return plenum is now insulated.
